Summary and Reading Strategy#4

Summary:
Jack heres rumbles of trucks squeaky wheels and a loud engine he look at the window and sees soldiers knock on his door. Jack and his family awaken by the ponding on the door they are all scared they open the door and the soldiers just come barging in. They Scream "All the JEWS come out NOW!! They came and they were sent on different buses/trucks to the camps they all went to different camps. Jack was worried that he will never see his family ever again and he was sent to a far  away camp.

Reading Strategy:
My connection with this book is the the slavery and at the time when Martin Luther King Jr he fought against segregation for the people. We learned this in the second quarter we read a book it was called "Rolling Thunder Hear My Cry." It also involves the KKK, this group is a white people who hate the blacks and they would do anything to get rid like in the Boy in The Death Camps my book. Hitler wants to get rid of all the Jews.

Summary and Reading Strategy#3

Summary:
Jack and his mother and two sisters have arrived to where the dad has sent them. They got there safe and no one said anything. They squeezed into there dads uncles family they had five children and three more came a long and those are Jack her two sisters and his mother. They ate a few things the uncle would keep the food under lock and key so the two kids would go to a farmer gave them buttermilk and some bread. When it was time for dinner they had there portion and if they were still hungry they had to go to bed with  and empty stomach. But, after all of that the Nazis came and inspected the house and found them in the dining room, thats where they took him and kept Jack.

Reading Strategy:
Jack made good friends in the camps and they also gave him some good advice. They helped him stay alive they don't treat him bad they treat him like family. They took his mom to a different camp far away from him he was in tears most of the time while in the camp. He only worked and work and work and cried most the time in there. They fed him every day but not a meal that he would like to eat, they gave him horrible food just so he would eat it or would not. The Nazis did not want the Jews to stay alive so they feed them that.

Summary and Reading Strategy #2

Summary:
Jacks father sent him and his family to somewhere out of the country. Jacks father settled them into a first class compartment on the train Jack, Mama and his siblings only carried on suitcase. Mamma would carry one full basket of foods, fruits for the 12 hour drive/trip.  Jacks father will send money, clothing and necessary things they might need. Jacks father will see them all in one month he kissed them all on the cheek and then the engine started the train was leaving.

Reading Strategy:
One connection I have with this story is that we went to the Holocaust Museum. We learned it for like 3 weeks we read articles on it, books. One of the books we read was "Number The Stars" it was a really good book. And also with slavery, the whites would make the black pick there cotton and other farming jobs. They would be paid in clothes or food but no money the blacks were not educated and did not know what was happening.

Summary of my book and reading strategy

Summary:
My book is about a boy named Jack and he was a survivor in the holocaust. It took place in Gdynia, Poland a population of 250,000, 90% was Catholic and 10% was Jewish. After the fled Poland they were taken back Germany after that, they rounded Jacks family up. He was only 15 years old and he was torn away from his family and thrown in a concentration camp. Jack plays by the game and trying to survive, all he wants is to see his family one more time.

Reading Strategy:
The conflict of this book is that a normal kid named Jack he was torn away from his parents when he was only 14. They took him in a death camp he was in there for over a year he celebrated his birthday in these terrible death camps. But the good thing is that he surrvied for year because, he followed the rules and jobs they gave him. He never disobeyed his leader because he knew what would happened because he saw people go in and get killed.

Number The Stars Summary/ Field Trip Reflection

Summary:
Annamarie, Kristi, and Ellen were going to uncle Henrick's house in the country. Peter helped the Rosens escape in the middle of the night. They left Ellen with the Johnson's and they talked to Henrick and Papa said "I will be bringing you a pack of cigarets" Henrick responded with "Just one". And then Annamarie found that there were no cigarets in the store. And then she finally realized that they were taking Ellen. They are gonna have a day with there great aunt and she is dead and they are gonna have her in a casket. Henrick is gonna stay int he boat all night until its time to go fishing.

Field Trip Reflection:
What I thought about the holocaust museum was that it was build to look like what the places were in those time periods. I learned that one of the survivors lived through WW2 in a potato cellar with Mom, Dad, and her. It was underground which means no heating, and it was cold. Just for saying yes to there family they saved to peoples life's just by protecting them and putting there life in danger. There was a train cart that they put the Jewish people in almost 150 people in there it was all wooden they had no heating, no windows and it was in the winter that they transported them to the camps.

Number The Stars Part 1

Summary:
The book I'm reading is Number The Stars by: Lois Lodwry and the main character is Ellen and Annmarie. There home town was invaded by Nazi Germany the specially invaded Copenhagen, Denmark. They have a king named Christian X he loved his people and he did not need a bodyguard because the people of Denmark was his bodyguard. He did not do anything to stop them because they were to much powerful and he did not want his people getting hurt. Annmarie had a sister named Lise  but she did and was older than her she died in a accident 2 weeks before he wedding day.

Conflict:
The conflict about Number The Stars is thats Nazi Germany has taken over Copenhagen, Denmark. Annmarie and her little sister and Ellen they take away to school and one other soldiers stops them and he touches the little girl and she says "Don't Touch Me". With the Nazi soldiers taken over Copenhagen, Denmark they have to put soldiers on every corner instead of the street lights. And they shut down Jewish stores or don't let non Jewish shop in those types of stores.

Holocaust Blog

I would be an up stander why? because its not fair to the Jews are gonna die just because of religion. I would parachute out of the helicopter or air plane to give them food. I would male an underground place were the Jews know were to find it. I would dress up as a nazi and get as many people as possible to be safe and not get killed. Then bring them to the safe them were I would keep them there and feed them and stuff make them feel comfortable.
